The macrolepiota procera, also known as parasol mushroom, is a basidiomycota mushroom from the order Agaricales. Pale brown cap, closed when young and it opens as it grows, reaching a diameter of up to 30 cm. It has dark flat scales which grow from its center, where it’s got a dark umbo. White color and loose yet compact gills. Long stipe with a double ring also covered by scales and easy to divide from the cap.

It grows from summer to the end of the autumn in grass, meadows, forest clearings or next to tracks.

It is highly valued in cooking for its flavor.
