Seasonal period: March, April, May, June, July, August, September

It is the fruit of a climbing tree from the Fabaceae family with a flat and long shape. It is green and it has some seeds inside. The pod is edible and is considered as a vegetable when we talk about green beans, and a legume, when referring to   dried beans.

They take different names such as frijoles, alubias- beans- or porotos depending on their origin.

When the pod dries, it becomes fibrous and the edible seeds acquire different colours depending on the species and have different names such as kidney beans, broad beans, string beans and white beans as well as a different nutritional composition, high in proteins when they are consumed as dried grains.

They are sold fresh, frozen and canned.
